Generic: Naproxen sodium 550 mg (equivalent to naproxen 500 mg).

Type: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

Uses: Relief of pain and inflammation associated with arthritis, muscle pain, joint pain, back pain and menstrual cramps.

How it works: Blocks prostaglandin production, reducing pain, inflammation and swelling.

Precautions: Take with or after food. Use cautiously in stomach ulcers, kidney disease, high blood pressure or heart disease. Avoid combining with other NSAIDs unless advised by a doctor.

Side effects: Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, headache, dizziness; serious risks include stomach bleeding and kidney problems.
