Class: Selective beta-1 blocker / antihypertensive.
Uses: Mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension); it may also be prescribed for certain heart conditions under medical supervision.
How it works: Slows the heart rate and reduces the heart's workload while helping blood vessels relax, which lowers blood pressure.
How to use: Usually taken once daily, with or without food, exactly as prescribed. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Precautions: Use cautiously in slow heart rate, low blood pressure, asthma/COPD, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, and heart failure. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and pulse may be needed.
Side effects: Dizziness, headache, tiredness, nausea, slow heartbeat, lightheadedness, and sleep disturbances may occur.
