Uses: Mainly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension); it may also be used for certain heart conditions under medical supervision.
How it works: Slows the heart rate and reduces the force of heart contraction while helping blood vessels relax, thereby lowering blood pressure.
How to use: Usually taken once daily, with or without food, as prescribed by the doctor. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Precautions: Use cautiously in slow heart rate, low blood pressure, asthma/COPD, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, and heart failure. Monitor blood pressure and pulse.
Side effects: Headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea, slow heartbeat, and sleep disturbances may occur.
