How It Works: Ivermectin is an antiparasitic medicine that acts on nerve and muscle cells of susceptible parasites, causing paralysis and death. It is used for certain parasitic infections, including scabies.

Adverse Effects: Dizziness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, rash, itching, and sleepiness may occur. Rarely, more serious neurological or allergic reactions can occur.

Dose: For scabies, the commonly recommended dose is 200 micrograms/kg per dose, with treatment often repeated after 7–14 days depending on clinical guidance. Ivermectin is generally not recommended for children weighing less than 15 kg unless specifically directed by a specialist.
